H-GAC Presents Award to Bayou Preservation Association
On January 17, the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s (H-GAC) Parks and Natural Areas Subcommittee gave a Special Recognition Award to Bayou Preservation Association for habitat restoration efforts in Harris County Precinct 4’s Collins Park. Also recognized was the Harris County Sherriff’s Office’s Inmate Community Work Program as the strong partner putting inmate labor into many of these habitat improvements along with the efforts of numerous Bayou Preservation Association volunteers and contractors! This project removed invasive, exotic plants and litter from the park as well as the addition of native plantings in an effort to elevate the quality of the park’s natural habitats along Cypress Creek.
