Do you love midway carnival games and have a passion for the environment? Whether you're a Trash Bash veteran or a newcomer eager to learn, Bayou Preservation Association and H-GAC want you to become an Educational Game Table volunteer.

Bayou Preservation Association and H-GAC are actively seeking enthusiastic individuals to participate as Educational Game Table volunteers at the upcoming River, Lakes, Bays ‘N Bayous Trash Bash®, on Saturday, March 23, 2024. We especially need volunteers for the Little White Oak Bayou (Moody Park) and Greens Bayou (Crowley Park) sites.

As a dedicated Educational Game Table volunteer, your role will involve overseeing four educational games designed to engage and educate attendees on the imperative of preserving our waterways. This training will also be a chance to learn how to operate the games for their community or school events, demonstrations, or educational purposes.

There are 4 games available at the training to learn about how to play, packing and logistics, pick-up locations, and other information.

1. Don’t Feed the Grease Monster: Explore the impact of grease in drains and pipes through an informative demonstration.

2. Pitch the Poop:  Learn the importance of picking up pet waste in a cornhole-style game.

3. Fish Me From the Watershed: Take a fishing expedition to understand how litter and waste end up in Galveston Bay.

4. Turn Your Yard Into A Sponge: Demonstrate the impact of paved surfaces on water absorption during rain events.

If you are interested in helping out with the Trash Bash® games tables or like to learn how to borrow the games for your purpose, Bayou Preservation will host a comprehensive training event to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage and facilitate the educational games. Attend our scheduled in-person training session on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 from 11:14 to 1:00 pm where you will acquire the necessary expertise to become proficient in managing the educational games.

Should you be interested in utilizing the games for your events or educational initiatives, please inform us during the application process. We welcome collaboration in expanding the reach of our educational efforts.
